(E)- and (Z)-beta-borylallylsilanes by alkyne silaboration followed by regio- and stereoselective double-bond migration

Double take: beta-Borylallylsilanes have been synthesized by the regioselective silaboration of terminal alkynes followed by palladium-catalyzed double-bond migration of the resulting beta-borylalkenylsilanes (see scheme). The stereoselectivity of the double-bond migration can be controlled by additives, thus leading to the stereocomplementary synthesis of (E)- and (Z)-beta-borylallylsilanes. Copyright

Well-defined bisMETAMORPhos PdI-PdI complex: Synthesis, structural characterization, and reactivity

The formation of a bisMETAMORPhos PN-bridged dimeric PdI complex (3) from ligand 1 and Pd(dba)2 is described. The addition of 1 to Pd(dba)2 initially leads to the formation of Pd0 complex 2, which has a highly distorted tetrahedral environment and binds two neutral ligands 1. Complex 2 converts to {PdI}2 complex 3 upon heating. Complex 3 consists of a completely flat Pd-Pd core, with a Pd-Pd bond length of 2.6199(4) A, and the Pd centers display a highly distorted square planar coordination environment. The formation of complex 3 from 2 is suggested to proceed via an in situ comproportionation pathway. Initial decoordination of one ligand from 2 followed by oxidative addition of one neutral coordinated ligand arm leads to a 1-PdIIH complex. Insertion of free dba into the Pd-H bond generates a 1-PdIIdba complex that releases 1,5-diphenylpent-1-en-3-one via intra- or intermolecular protonolysis. Concomitantly, comproportionation with 1-Pd0 yields 3. Complex 3 was found to function as a precatalyst in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of p-chloroacetophenone with good conversions.

A practical, ligand-free, palladium-catalyzed isocyanide insertion reaction for the construction of novel ring-fused quinazolinones

A high-yielding, ligand-free, palladium-catalyzed isocyanide insertion reaction for the synthesis of phthalazino[1,2-b]quinazolinones from the readily obtainable quinazolinones has been developed. Easily handled and relatively low-cost palladium(II) acetate was used as the catalyst, without an additional ligand. Preparation of the quinazolinones involved the cascade reaction of isatoic anhydrides, phenylhydrazines and 2-bromobenzaldehyde catalyzed by p-toluenesulfonic acid in one pot. This novel protocol may be applicable for the synthesis of other important ring-fused heterocyclic compounds. Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart. New York.

Pd/pivalic acid mediated direct arylation of 2-pyrones and related heterocycles

Abstract Direct arylation represents a favourable alternative to traditional cross-coupling reactions and has found widespread use with simple aryls and robust heterocycles. Herein a direct arylation protocol has been optimised and applied to more delicate, privileged biological motifs. The intramolecular direct arylation of 2-pyrones, 2-coumarins, 2-pyridones and 2-quinolones occurs in very good to excellent yields using a Pd0 source and pivalic acid as a crucial additive. Preliminary mechanistic investigations were also carried out. Direct Arylation represents a favourable alternative to traditional cross-coupling reactions. However there are limited reports on application to more delicate, privileged biological motifs. Herein the intramolecular Pd/PivOH promoted direct arylation of 2-pyrones, 2-coumarins, 2-pyridones and 2-quinolones is reported. One intermolecular example is included along with preliminary mechanistic investigations.

Palladium-catalyzed N1-selective allylation of indoles with allylic alcohols promoted by titanium tetraisopropoxide

The direct N1-selective allylation of indoles with allylic alcohols has been accomplished by synergistic functions of palladium catalysts and titanium tetraisopropoxide. The site selectivity is notably different from that observed in other related transition metal-catalyzed approaches. This chemistry provides a facile route to a variety of allylated indoles in synthetically useful yields. The utility of this simple allylation reaction was demonstrated with the first total synthesis of (+)-N-(4?-hydroxyprenyl)-cyclo(alanyltryptophyl), which was completed in five steps, starting from l-tryptophan methyl ester hydrochloride.

Ethanol-Processable, Highly Crystalline Conjugated Polymers for Eco-Friendly Fabrication of Organic Transistors and Solar Cells

We report eco- and human-friendly fabrication of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and polymer solar cells (PSCs) using only ethanol as a processing solvent at ambient condition, in stark contrast to that involving the use of halogenated and/or aromatic solvents. New ethanol-processable electroactive materials, p-type polymer (PPDT2FBT-A) and n-type bis-adduct fullerene acceptor (Bis-C60-A) are designed rationally by incorporation of oligoethylene glycol (OEG) side-chains. By ethanol processing, PPDT2FBT-A shows a broad light absorption in the range of 300-700 nm and highly crystalline interchain ordering with out-of-plane interlamellar scattering up to (400) with strong pi-pi stacking. As a result, the ethanol-processed PPDT2FBT-A OFETs yield high charge-carrier mobilities up to 1.0 × 10-2 cm2 V-1 s-1, which is the highest value reported to date from alcohol-processed devices. Importantly, the ethanol-processed PPDT2FBT-A OFET outperformed that processed using typical processing solvent, chlorobenzene (CB), with ?10-fold enhancement in hole mobility, because the highly edge-on oriented packing of PPDT2FBT-A was produced by ethanol-process. Also, for the first time, significant photovoltaic performance was achieved for the ethanol-processed device of PPDT2FBT-A and Bis-C60-A due to the formation of an interpenetrating nanofibrillar morphology of highly crystalline PPDT2FBT-A polymers. The relationships between molecular structure, nanoscale morphology and electronic properties within ethanol-processed OFETs and PSCs were elucidated by comparing to typical CB-processed devices. These comparisons provide important guidelines for the design of new ethanol/water-soluble active layer materials and their use in the development of green solvent-processed efficient OFETs and PSCs.

Pd-catalyzed dearomative arylborylation of indoles

A palladium-catalyzed dearomative arylborylation of indoles is reported, which provides straightforward access to structurally diverse indolines bearing vicinal tetrasubstituted and borylated trisubstituted stereocenters in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities. By using a BINOL-based chiral phosphoramidite ligand and an sp2-sp3 mixed-boron reagent, an enantioselective dearomative arylborylation was achieved and chiral boron-containing products were accessed in up to 94% ee. Synthetic tranformations of the resulting organoborons were conducted to afford a number of unique indoline derivatives.

Supramolecular Structure-Dependent Thermally-Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) Properties of Organic Polymorphs

The increasing demand for high-performance organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) based on thermally-activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) principle urgently requires to establish an efficient preparation strategy of high-performance TADF materials. Although considerable progress has been made in molecular design approaches for TADF materials, it still remains an unaddressed issue how molecular aggregated states or supramolecular structures determine the TADF property of organic solids. Herein, we present an organic molecule 3-(10H-phenoxazin-10-yl)-9H-xanthen-9-one (3-PXZ-XO) with TADF and polymorph characteristics. Three kinds of 3-PXZ-XO based crystals A, B, and C with different TADF properties were obtained. The three crystals display obviously different emission maxima (lambdaem, max: 535 nm for A, 555 nm for B, and 576 nm for C), photoluminescence (PL) quantum yields (phi: 51% for A, 28% for B, and 39% for C), and delayed lifetimes of excited states (tauTADF: 914 ns for A, 774 ns for B, and 994 ns for C). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that in A, B, and C there are different intermolecular pi···pi stacking interaction modes between the adjacent donor planes or acceptor planes. The different TADF properties of the three polymorphs are mainly attributed to their different supramolecular structures. Appropriate donor···donor and acceptor···acceptor stacking interactions inducing aggregation structures can strongly enhance TADF property of organic solids.

Intramolecularly stabilised group 10 metal stannyl and stannylene complexes: Multi-pathway synthesis and observation of platinum-to-tin alkyl transfer

Reaction of [PdClMe(P?N)2] with SnCl2 followed by Cl-abstraction leads to apparent Pd-C bond activation, resulting in methylstannylene species trans-[PdCl{(P?N)2SnClMe}][BF4] (P?N = diaryl phosphino-N-heterocycle). In contrast, reaction of Pt analogues with SnCl2 leads to Pt-Cl bond activation, resulting in methylplatinum species trans-[PtMe{(P?N)2SnCl2}][BF4]. Over time, they isomerise to methylstannylene species, indicating that both kinetic and thermodynamic products can be isolated for Pt, whereas for Pd only methylstannylene complexes are isolated. Oxidative addition of RSnCl3 (R = Me, Bu, Ph) to M0 precursors (M = Pd or Pt) in the presence of P?N ligands results in diphosphinostannylene pincer complexes trans-[MCl{(P?N)2SnCl(R)}][SnCl4R], which are structurally similar to the products from SnCl2 insertion. This showed that addition of RSnCl3 to M0 results in formal Sn-Cl bond oxidative addition. A probable pathway of activation of the tin reagents and formation of different products is proposed and the relevancy of the findings for Pd and Pt catalysed processes that use SnCl2 as a co-catalyst is discussed.

Note that a catalyst decreases the activation energy for both the forward and the reverse reactions and hence accelerates both the forward and the reverse reactions.Recommanded Product: Bis(dibenzylideneacetone)palladium, you can also check out more blogs about32005-36-0
